Optum

Eden Prairie, MN (Remote)

  • Spearheaded the end-to-end overhaul of the Optum Rx legacy public experience using an object-oriented user experience (OOUX) methodology. Architected a scalable support hub by distilling convoluted information content into coherent, consistent reference resources, effectively eliminating broken legacy paths.

  • Engineered the Optum Rx landing page to function as a rhetorical argument by logically organizing value propositions (e.g., cross-links to Home Delivery and Drug Pricing) to showcase underutilized experiences overlooked by new members while maintaining strict adherence to best practices from NN/g and Baymard Institute.

  • Partnered with product management to steer high-priority initiatives, including a new cash-pricing tool; mitigated technical constraints by launching a workable browsing experience with a “fast-follow” iteration for therapy-type filtering, aligning the product with researched user mental models.

  • Championed the “human-first” perspective during support call-obviation initiatives; successfully negotiated against the total removal of contact phone numbers by designing a self-service-first hierarchy that balanced business costs with the critical need to maintain user trust.

  • Translated complex user data (e.g., users taking 40+ medications) into scalable designs in drug pricing that accommodate both the general experience for ease of use as well as critical edge cases for niche user groups.
